The Nuclear Safety and Radiation Protection Act 1995, established the Nigerian Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NNRA) with the responsibilities for nuclear safety and radiological protection regulation in Nigeria. This Act became effective by the commencement of operations in May, 2001.
The NNRA registers, licenses, inspects and enforces nuclear safety and radiological protection in all practices and industries involved in the use of Ionizing radiation in Nigeria.
